Harvest Celebrations at Crosscrake
It was a superb harvest celebration at St. Thomas’ Crosscrake this weekend.
Starting with a harvest thanksgiving service for families on Sunday morning, led by Mat, attended by the uniformed organisations and enjoyed by a large congregation. The service contained special elements of thanksgiving and sharing.
The church looked beautiful with its displays of flowers, fruit and produce, all expertly arranged by the team.
At 6.30pm we held a further service of harvest praise focusing on traditional harvest hymns, which was followed at 8pm by a harvest supper at The Punch Bowl Inn, Barrows Green; where a hearty meal was accompanied by drinks, raffle and auction.
The display of produce in the church was made up of items suitable for donation to the King’s food bank in Kendal and the day’s collections and proceeds from the raffle and a proportion of the supper ticket sales were donated to the Bishop of Carlisle’s Harvest Appeal to help people in Malawi and our companion link Diocese of Zululand (South Africa).
Thanks to everyone who made the day such a success, including David and all the staff at The Punch Bowl.
