Outdoor service at Crosscrake – 4th July 2021

An outdoor service took place today at Crosscrake Church and was a great success. The weather forecast had predicted heavy, thundery showers, but it stayed dry for the duration of the service.
There was great enthusiasm from the congregation and being outdoor, this was the first service in which singing has been permitted since the start of Covid restrictions some eighteen months ago. The turnout of people showed the great desire to be able to meet again and sing together.
Rev. Mat Ineson, Rev. Terry Wilcock and Rev. Lucy Foster led the family service which included hymns and songs that are great favourites amongst the children of the congregation. If you look carefully at some of the photos, you may even see people doing the actions to the words of ‘If I were a butterfly’ as they are singing!
The service was followed by some Covid-safe outdoor refreshments giving people the chance to chat and catch up with one-another, for some this being the first time they have seen each other for a long time.
We all look forward to soon being able to return to worship together as before with singing permitted again. Thanks to all involved for making this service such a wonderful and successful event.
